THOSE ON THE FRONT LINES ARE
RUNNING OUT OF SUPPLIES
Doctors, nurses, and other
healthcare providers are being asked to fight this global pandemic without proper
access to PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). Proper use of PPE includes
being able to change masks and gowns between patients. Right now, many
healthcare workers are using a single mask throughout their entire shift. Some have had to use a single mask for
several weeks. Garbage bags and rain ponchos are being used instead of
medical gowns.
The situation is
serious and far from over. In fact, 3.5 billion N95 masks will be needed if
the coronavirus outbreak lasts a year. The US national stockpile only has 12
million. Our doctors and nurses are being sent to the battlefield without
armor. They are anxious, they are dying,
but they are still fighting.
Let’s protect those
who protect us.
I decided to start Proyecto_Protect,
an online shop, as way to raise money to help purchase PPE for our healthcare
workers. I’ve been hard at work creating art
that keeps our doctors and nurses in mind. It is now available for purchase
in the form of affordable stickers (and apparel, coming soon). 50% of proceeds go towards securing and distributing PPE to healthcare
workers across the country.
